Alice Temperley MBE was born, raised and now lives in Somerset, a rural corner of south west England. She spent her childhood on Burrow Hill farm, an idyllic family home set within fields of apple orchards. Growing up surrounded by nature, its fruits and the people who worked the land shaped Alice’s vision and creative path.
After finishing school Alice ventured to London to study Print and Textiles at the Royal College of Art. Less than a year after graduating, she founded her eponymous label Temperley London and remains the driving creative force behind the brand as it celebrates its twenty-second year of business.
Alice was hailed as "the designer making the biggest waves in British fashion" by US Vogue and has dressed some of the world’s most influential women - Florence Welch, Penelope Cruz, Madonna, Michelle Obama and Natalie Emmanuel to name just a few.
In 2012, Alice launched Somerset by Alice Temperley with the vision of bringing her vision of escapism, fantasy and bohemia to a wider audience. Alice lives in Somerset - her home is within walking distance of her new headquarters in the rural market town of Ilminster.
Alice has bought her brand back to its spiritual home in Somerset, ‘The Land of the Summer People’.
Somerset by Alice embodies all of the hallmarks of the Temperley aesthetic –whimsy; unabashed femininity and wild prints. The dress that floats from office to after hours. The cornerstone white blouse. The cut-to-the-bone jumpsuit. It’s every day – but for escapists who dream of fresh air and wild spaces.
2022 marks a new era for Somerset by Alice Temperley. Responsibly sourced fabrics have been integrated into the collection and a broader offering allows women to build a free-spirited, playful capsule wardrobe that will work hard for them and their busy lives.
Welcome to Somerset for a new age. We hope you'll come along for the ride.
